So I will be updating from the last post some progress on those projects, some new projects in development, and some more steamin Hot tool toys!

Some more Acoustic Science Development for the studio. Meaning more acoustic treatment porn! Raw implementation, unreserved customization, and some down right nasty DYI. So I will be updating from the last post some progress on those projects, some new projects in development, and some more steamin Hot tool toys! OK so given the cost of the nice RPG skyline diffusers and the poor quality and workmanship of many other commercially available acoustic treatments, I have been building custom treatments for some time and have been taking steps to add custom acoustic treatments as an public offering. I would never state that I am an expert in acoustic science, but my science background does provide me with the ability to understand and integrate many of the tried and proven models and designs aimed at providing effective acoustic treatment integration. I have custom built over 100 broadband bass traps and various panels, diffusers, sound clouds, gobos, etc....All either comparable or exceeding the quality of what is commercially available. So, I will be showing a lot of new in house DYI custom built projects along the way!
CHECK BACK FOR MORE UPDATES, COMPLETED PROJECTS, and Steamy Acoustic pics!!!

OK, If you are an Acoustics Geek please read on, as this post relates to our most recent acoustic treatment implementation. While even some very large established commercial studios have put developing equipment ahead of acoustics, we know that a $40,000 mic is not going to overcome even a great instrument played in a poor sounding room. It will always be better to track with an average microphone in a great room, then a studio filled with premium equipment with poor acoustics. We never put the acquisition of components ahead of room acoustics, as the interaction of instrument and the environment is the most critical. In turn we have invested thousands of $ into acoustics. We began for example with installing over 40 acoustic broadband absorption panels. We have been furthermore acquiring and implementing the optimal balance of acoustic QRD, Fractal, and Binary acoustic diffusion. These approaches yield a room that sounds lively, larger than its dimensions (without echo), and a relatively flat response across the sound frequency spectrum. So, these last few weeks, I have been working on several projects. 1) I bought 2 large approx 9'x6' and 2 smaller 6'x4' ceiling clouds that were custom built by Acoustech in NH. Despite buying them, they still need to be mounted and I can't leave well enough alone, so I had to add about 3-6 inches of Roxul broadband absorption to them. Sounds good but required adding additional support as now they weigh about 30-40lbs each. I will be hanging them over the drum kit and in the center of the tracking room with diffusion across the front. Pics below will show the final product goal. Check Back Again, as these projects are set to be complete in 1-2 weeks max. Next will be more large scale CUSTOM Skyline diffusers and some Unique Binary Sequence Diffusers!!! I will be drilling about 6000 1/2 inch holes, but don't worry I bought a heavy duty hi velocity power drill!! Also more QRD diffusers and next big project will include HUGE soffit Monitor/subwoofer mounts!!!!
Since announcing the public opening of Bop Stop Studios we have received a lot of support and interest, which we are thrilled about. Many thanks to our friends and colleagues! Of course, we strive to support local artists and provide rates that reflect our helping nature. Bottom line we are in this to make beautiful music and become a resource for the music community!!!!
We have been setting up consultations and nailing down final scheduling on several upcoming projects. We are excited to already have a range of artists covering music from Jazz to Hip Hop to Reggae and Pop! In turn we have added a web page for "upcoming studio projects". I will also be adding a personal BIO for the website to give you all a brief perspective into my how my path has become directed towards music recording and production and my hopes to expand to artist management/promotion. I will periodically be posting updates to this blog site so check back, subscribe to our page here, or like us on FACEBOOK. You can also look me up on Facebook. |
