Part IV - Acoustic Treatment Development - Implementation - FINISHED Quadratic Residue Diffusers and Flexifuser

WHEW!!!!!!  I finally finished two of the FIVE 2x4' Quadratic Residue Diffusers!

It was a long hard fought battle, as those who have ventured know you want to quit at several points.  These are built with stained Birch frames and the inner fins and wells are MDF.  The precision cutting, sanding, and finish work is the most time consuming aspect.  These are 10 inches deep, so deeper than what is generally commercially available, diffusing lower frequencies than with the typical 5 inch depths.  I added legs and stacked the two in the corner directly in front of a stacked 8x2 ' x 6 inch broadband absorption with corner fill behind it.  I don't know exact time, but for sure at least 40 hours for these two or more.  So it becomes evident why it would cost about $1600 for these two if bought commercially and sadly the quality of build and materials would be LOWER!

A finished 4x2' 5 inches deep combination absorption/diffusion FLEXIFUSER.  It has scattering properties from the hardwood front panels and it has 3-4 inches of broadband absorption behind it.  Again, it will be placed in front of a stacked 8x2 section of broadband absorption with corner fill behind it.  The next stage is to add to the TOP of this FLEXIFUSER, FOUR 15x15" skyline diffusers.  In previous posts I showed the cutting for the pieces for the skyline, so I will finally get to sanding, finishing and mounting all the 400+ pieces.  Should complete that part of the back wall in the tracking room.

Please stay tuned for updates on the NEVER ENDING Quest for acoustic perfection.
Skyline diffusers, finishing and mounting T fusers, mounting ceiling clouds etc.... are all on the way!!

The Quadratic Residue Diffusers are a good addition to any infiltration system. They are highly effective at removing compounds from any type of soil or water. These are ideal for treating drainage systems, irrigation, and erosion control. The Flexifuser is a highly efficient system for quickly removing waste matter from wastewater systems.
