Jazz Trio Recording at Bop Stop Studios with Nicholas Ornstein - Piano, Ross Adams - Bass, and Mark Fairweather- Drums
Young Talent and a positive diligent energy exudes from this young pianist Nicholas Ornstein. A pleasure record the Jazz trio with the tasteful and rock solid playing of both Ross and Mark. Nicholas is applying for a scholarship competition as he finishes up at the Concord Academy and begins his applications to prestigious universities. Surely, they will take note of his musical abilities which support and further reflect his personality and his obviously high aptitude. Hope to have Nicholas back when he is ready to make his debut album and always blessed to work with young talent like Nicholas:)

We have been performing some major updates to the studio including redeveloping the room acoustics for the grand piano we acquired last July. The acoustic development work is extensive and the result will be worth the wait. We have been completing our major upgrade to the Focusrite Audio over IP REDNET interface and modular preamp system and some other significant changes in our approach to hardware.
This is an update to our microphone locker, as we have realigned our microphones based upon the specific needs of an acoustic recording studio. We love Ribbon mics and we have had them all from Coles to Royer to AEA.
First, we acquired a RCA 44BX All Original vintage Ribbon mic! From Sinatra to Ella to Elvis, this mic is the pinnacle of classic ribbon sound. Outside of big warm vocals, it is an excellent horn, piano, drum mic for certain.
Secondly, but not of any lesser impact, we have settled on these AMAZING AL39 Samar Audio Ribbon mics to add to our pair of MF65 Samar Audio mics, which were the winners of the $60K ribbon microphone shootout.
Third, we acquired a matched pair of Schoeps CMC6 MK21 microphones! Certainly at the top of the classical recording industry, but truly natural and precise for any style of music. We LOVE these mics, as do many studios. Pairing these Schoeps on piano with the Samar ribbons has been our favorite configuration for piano thus far.
Lastly, some new drum mics for the full Sonor Delite kit we will share pics of soon. Four Electrovoice N/D 468 supercardioids mics for the toms and a N/D 868 for the kick. These are some sleeper big sounding drum mics with excellent form factors for positioning around the kit.
Some other reorganizing of the microphones, but this pretty much covers it.
We are looking forward to sharing some new demos and videos with our newly developed acoustics.
